The incident took place in Hartford County on Sunday, April 16 around 3:30 p.m. in Hartford.
According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert, of the Hartford Police, Pedro Grajalez, age 52, of Hartford, entered the Hartford Police Department lobby and approached officers working the front desk.
He stated that he had just stabbed his girlfriend and that she was in a vehicle parked in front of the police department, Boisvert said.
Officers working the front desk secured Grajalez and rushed to the vehicle, where they located an unresponsive woman suffering from multiple injuries.
Officers attempted life-saving measures until the arrival of EMS. The woman, identified as Nilda Rivera, age 65, of New Britain, was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Boisvert said.
It was determined the stabbing incident occurred in the area of 206 Murphy Road.
Grajalez was brought to the Hartford Police Major Crimes Division, where he was charged with the murder.
He is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
